More than 230 SAFE courses have been delivered across the world, in more than 50 countries. Courses have been delivered by individuals, as part of larger in-country projects and by program partners. Find out more below.

A number of SAFE courses have taken place in Bangladesh including the 1st SAFE Obstetrics course in Asia in Parbatipur in 2013 followed by a 2nd at Comilla Medical College in 2014 and a 3rd in Khulna in 2016. Further SAFE Obstetrics courses ran throughout 2017, 2018 and 2019 in Sylet, Dhaka, Rangpur and Bogura. The 1st SAFE Paediatrics course in Dhaka in 2016 and a further course in Dhaka in 2019. SAFE OR workshops were run in 2023 and 2024.
SAFE Obstetric and Paediatric Anaesthesia courses have been run in Burundi, including Burundi's 1st SAFE Obstetrics course in Bujumbura in 2017, a further course in Gitega in 2018 and again in Bujumbura in 2024, and a SAFE Paediatrics course in Bujumbura in 2019 and 2024.
SAFE Obstetric and SAFE Paediatric Anaesthesia courses have been run in Cotonou, Benin, including Benin's 1st and 2nd SAFE Obstetrics courses held in 2015, further courses in 2016 and 2017 and a SAFE Paediatrics course in 2016.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Ouagadougou in 2016.
Two SAFE Obstetrics courses were held in Phnom Penh in 2019. An online SAFE Obstetrics course was held in 2021. A SAFE Paediatrics course was held in Phnom Penh 2022. A further SAFE Obstetrics course is planned in 2024.
A SAFE Paediatrics course ran in Yaounde in 2017, a further course in Douala in 2018, and a SAFE Obstetrics course in Douala in 2018.
The 1st SAFE Obstetrics course in Chad was held in N’Djamena in 2019.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Medellin in 2014 and a SAFE Paediatric Anaesthesia course also in Medellin in 2019.
A SAFE Paediatrics course was run in Kinshasa in 2019. SAFE Paediatrics and Obstetrics courses were held in Bukavu in 2023 and s SAFE OR course in 2024.
A SAFE OR course was held in El Salvador in 2024.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Eswatini in 2016.
A number of courses have been run in Ethiopia since the 1st SAFE Obstetrics course in Hawassa in 2014. In 2017 and 2018 two courses were run in Bahir Dar, two in Mekele and one in Oromia. The Ethiopian Society of Anaesthesiologists and the Federal Ministry of Health have been successful in independently running courses in Oromia in 2019. A further course was run in 2021. The 1st SAFE Paediatrics course was held in Jimma in 2016, with further courses in Addis Ababa in 2017, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. The 1st SAFE Operating Room course was run in Addis Ababa in 2018 with further courses since, most recently in 2023. An online version of the SAFE OR course was run in 2022. SAFE Paediatrics-Cleft was run in Addis Ababa in 2024.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Suva in 2019.
Two SAFE Obstetrics courses were held in 2012. SAFE Paediatrics courses were run in Kumasi in 2023 and 2024, and SAFE Obstetrics in 2024.
The 1st SAFE Paediatrics course was held in Guatemala City in 2017.
The 1st SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Conakry in 2018. Further SAFE Obstetrics and SAFE paediatrics courses were run throughout 2018 and 2019.
A SAFE Obstetrics course took place in San Pedro Sula in 2016. An introductory SAFE OR course was run in 2022.
Numerous SAFE courses have been held in India. The 1st SAFE Paediatrics course took place in Hyderabad in 2017. Further courses have been held in Hyderabad, Warangal and New Delhi in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2023. SAFE Obstetrics courses have been held in Bihar in 2017, Hyderabad and Mahabubnagar in 2018, Medchal, Rangareddy and Patna in 2019. SAFE Operating Room courses have been run in Patna, Mumbai and Manipal in 2019. The Indian Association of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists (IAPA) and the Association of Obstetric Anaesthesiologists (AOA) of India have been successful in running SAFE Obstetrics and Paediatrics courses independently. In 2021, the 1st SAFE Online Paediatrics course was run by the IAPA.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Jakarta in 2018 and a SAFE Online Obstetrics course in 2021. Further SAFE Obstetrics courses were run in 2022 and 2023.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Abidjan in 2015.
Online SAFE Paediatrics courses have been held regularly in Japan from 2021-2024 by the Japanese Society of Pediatric Anaesthesiology.
Several SAFE courses have been held in Kenya in 2016 and 2017. These include SAFE Obstetrics courses in Nairobi, Eldoret, Isiolo and Mombasa, and SAFE Paediatrics courses in Nairobi and Kakamega. SAFE Obstetrics modules were run within multidisciplinary training in Makueni county in 2021 and SAFE Obstetrics and Paediatrics courses were run in 2023 and 2024.
SAFE Obstetrics courses were held in Liberia in 2012 and 2017. Hybrid SAFE Obstetrics (SAFE Online Obstetrics followed by Obstetric skills days in Monrovia, Harper, Tappita and Phebe) was run in 2022.
The 1st SAFE Obstetrics course was in Antananarivo in 2014, followed by SAFE Obstetrics and Paediatrics courses throughout 2015/16. A SAFE Paediatrics-Cleft course was run in 2023 and a SAFE Paediatrics course in 2024.
SAFE Obstetrics courses have been run in Blantyre in 2016 and Lilongwe in 2016, 2017 and 2018. A SAFE Paediatrics course was run in Blantyre in 2016. A modified SAFE course and a SAFE OR course were run in 2023.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Majuro in 2019.
A modified SAFE Paediatrics course was held in Chuuk in 2023.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Ulan Bataar in 2018.
SAFE Obstetrics courses were held in Mozambique in 2016 and 2019.
The 1st SAFE Obstetric Anaesthesia course was held in Yangon in 2019. SAFE Obstetric online is planned in 2024.
The 1st SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Windhoek in 2018, followed by the 1st SAFE Paediatrics course in 2019.
SAFE Obstetrics courses have run in Kathmandu in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2024. A SAFE Paediatrics course is planned in 2025.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Niger in 2017.
Several SAFE Paediatrics and Obstetrics courses have been run in PNG since 2015 including a SAFE Paediatrics course held in 2017 and SAFE Obstetrics in 2024.
In 2014 a SAFE Obstetrics course took place in Pointe Noire. Further courses were run in Brazzaville and Pointe Noire in 2020 and 2022.
The 1st Rwandan SAFE Obstetrics course was held in 2013. A further four courses were run between 2013 and 2016, and courses have been held throughout 2019. A SAFE Paediatrics course was held in Kigale in 2018.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Apia in 2017.
SAFE Obstetrics and Paediatrics courses were held in 2019, 2020 and 2022 in Dakar, Ziguinchor and Tambacounda, and in 2023 in St Louis and Matam.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Freetown in 2016 and a SAFE Paediatrics course in 2018.
SAFE Obstetrics and Paediatrics courses were held in Somaliland in 2022 and again in 2023 and 2024. SAFE OR was run in 2023 and 2024.
SAFE Paediatrics courses have been held in Johannesburg, Mbombela, Polokwane, Richard’s Bay, Newcastle, Port Shepston, Pietermaritzburg, Gqeberha and East London from 2018 - 2023. A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Bloemfontein in 2021, 4 further SAFE Obstetrics courses were run in 2022 followed by courses in Mbombela and East London in 2023, and additional courses in 2024.
The 1st SAFE Paediatrics course in Sudan was held in Khartoum in 2018.
The 1st SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Banjul in 2020. A further course is planned in 2023.
The SAFE Paediatrics GBI course has been run in London and Cornwall in 2018 and 2019, and in Northumbria and Aberdeen in 2022. Further courses were run in 2023 in Northumbria, Truro, Cheltenham and South Wales. Additional courses have run throughout 2024. The SAFE Training of Trainers course has been held in London one to two times a year since 2016.
A SAFE Obstetrics course ran in Lusaka in 2014. Further SAFE Obstetrics courses have been held in Livingstone in 2014, Lusaka in 2015, and in Ndola in 2015 and 2016. Two SAFE Paediatrics courses were held in Lusaka in 2016 and further courses in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
A SAFE Obstetrics course was held in Harare in 2017. Further courses have been held in Mutara in 2017 and Bulawayo in 2018. A SAFE Paediatrics course was held in Harare in 2019.
