Completing a SAFE Online course
How can I complete a course?
Courses can be completed in two ways:
Open access: You can access the course materials and complete the e-learning in your own time. This can also be useful before or after attending a face-to-face SAFE course as preparation or revision.
Closed course: These are delivered to participants as a group and are accompanied by online group discussion sessions.
Once you have enrolled, the course will appear in your dashboard under 'My courses' any time that your are logged in. To locate the desired course go to you dashboard or go to the home page and look under 'Available Courses' then click on the course name.
If you are completing the course as open access and are interested in joining a group discussion, you can register your interest by contacting safe@wfsahq.org. Discussions will be scheduled according to interest.
Modules and Lessons
Each course has a series of 'modules'. Click on a course module to begin.
Within each module, there are a number of 'lessons' to work through. Work your way through the lessons in the order they appear. Click on a lesson to begin. The lesson will open in a new window. Work your way through the lesson, completing the material. You will not be able to move forward until you have completed the required activities. At the end of the lesson you can close the page to return to the main site. After you have completed the lessons within a module, these will become 'completed' activities and count towards the course progress on your dashboard.
Each module has a selection of further reading links - these are not compulsory for module completion but provide useful additional information. You can mark these as completed yourself to keep track of which resources you have accessed.
Module Scenarios
Each module is accompanied by a session which contains a series of scenarios - clinical cases and questions.
Open access: These can be used to test yourself. Work through the session and think about whether you can answer the questions. You might find it useful to try to write down the answers. This session may help you to identify areas of the module to return to. These sessions will also form the basis for the online discussions if you later have the opportunity to attend one of these.
Closed course: These sessions will form the basis of online discussions in the closed courses. The discussion will be scheduled and you will receive notification of the time and date of this. You can also check your notifications by clicking on the bell icon at the top right of the page. Scheduled discussion sessions will also appear in the calendar and 'upcoming events' at the right side of your dashboard.
End of Module Quiz
You will need to complete the 'End of Module Quiz' to complete the module. Each quiz has 20 True/False MCQ questions. A score of 80% is required to pass. You can retake the quiz if you do not pass an attempt. Once you have completed the required content and passed the quiz, you will receive a module badge - badges are displayed in your dashboard.
